Merkado.cw ("Merkado", "we", "us", or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.
Merkado operates from Willemstad, Curaçao. Data protection in Curaçao is governed by the Landsverordening bescherming persoonsgegevens (LBP), the local data protection law.
Account information: When you register, we collect your full name, email address, WhatsApp number, and password. You may optionally tell us the email address of the person who referred you at signup or later in Account Settings (once saved, it cannot be changed). You may also upload a profile photo. If you sign in with Google or Facebook, we receive your name, email, and (when available) profile photo from those services.
Listing information: When you post a car or property listing, we collect the details you provide, such as listing information, photos, description, pricing, and your contact details. Property listings may be for sale or for rent.
Favorites: When you save a listing to favorites, we store that activity with your account so we can show your saved items. You need to be signed in to use favorites.
Reports: Anyone can report a listing. If you are signed in, we may store the report with your account so we can review it. If you are not signed in, we still receive the report details you submit.
Matching tools: You can open Property Match and draft search criteria without an account. Running matches (including AI situation parse) requires a free account. When you run a match, we process the search criteria and situation text you enter to show matching property listings. Situation text may be processed by OpenAI on our servers to interpret your request; we do not use it to train Merkado accounts. If you unlock Property Match save/alerts and choose to save a search, we store your criteria on your account and may email you when new strong matches appear. You can turn alerts off or delete your saved search from Account → Property Match.
Partnership inquiries: If you use Partner with Merkado, the form is hosted by Tally. Information you submit there is collected by Tally on our behalf so we can review partnership requests.
Usage data: We use Google Analytics to collect anonymous usage data such as pages visited, time spent on pages, device type, and general location (country/region level). This helps us understand how people use Merkado and improve the platform. Analytics events are configured not to send emails, phone numbers, WhatsApp content, or other personal contact details.
Contact events: When someone clicks a WhatsApp or contact button on a listing, we log that event for analytics purposes. We do not record the content of any messages. Your WhatsApp number is used to open contact for your own listings and is not shown on public seller profile cards.
Technical diagnostics: We use error monitoring to keep Merkado reliable. Diagnostic data may include technical details about failures; it is configured not to send personal contact details by default.

We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels. We do not sell your data to advertisers. We disclose cookie and analytics use in this Privacy Policy; Merkado does not show a separate cookie-consent banner.

Paid listing plans and Property Match paid alerts are planned to use Sentoo when payments launch. Merkado does not currently charge cards or process payment details on the site.
Your account information is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data will be removed within 30 days. Listing data may be retained in anonymized form for analytics, including whether a listing was later marked sold or rented.
Property Match saved searches and alert preferences are kept until you delete them or delete your account. Aggregated listing data sourced from third-party websites is refreshed regularly. Listings that are no longer available on the source are automatically removed or marked unavailable.

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure authentication, and restricted database access. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
Merkado is a marketplace for cars and real estate and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date. Continued use of Merkado after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
